        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Are you ready to learn about and review social service programs across Canada and Bermuda?  Do you have a passion for quality and a process-oriented mindset?  We are looking for a dynamic individual to engage social service leaders in stimulating conversations about The Salvation Army accreditation standards and processes.  The Accreditation Reviewer will be responsible for leading virtual and on-site accreditation reviews in Canada and Bermuda.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, manage, and/or participate in review teams, conducting virtual and on-site accreditation reviews for local units based on The Salvation Army Accreditation Standards. When assigned as team lead of a review, you will assist team members in interpreting standards, ensure effective time management of the team, and review/ensure team member work is consistent with Accreditation Guidelines.
  • Review all review documents fully for consistency and accuracy with guidelines post-review prior to submission to Department for further processing
  • Interpret and apply accreditation standards in a variety of settings, and explain them in accessible language to team members and those being reviewed
  • Build relationships and engage professionally with all stakeholders involved in the review.
  • Identify areas of risk for follow up that may arise during review, and communicate them appropriately as they arise.
  • Participate and/or facilitate accreditation meetings and trainings
  • Build and maintain professional, positive and supportive relationships with key stakeholders
  • Support local units to interpret standards and develop capacity to achieve standards before or after an accreditation review. Support can be provided through individualized sessions or training in a group format.
  • Lead, research, and coordinate with all stakeholders to revise standards when required
  • Support the ongoing development of an internal accreditation database, and related training for stakeholders
  • Recruit, select, and supervise placement student or summer student when required
  • Support the ongoing development of resources and tools to support local units
  • In collaboration with Accreditation team, identify ways to enhance processes for streamlined practices and improved outcomes
  • Support the development of guidelines to guide the accreditation process
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful job applicant will have an Undergraduate University degree in a relevant social service field
  • 3-5 years of related experience with awareness of the structures and expectations of social services or agency functions within Canada
  • Alternative combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Strong ability to work independently while leading a team, interpret standards, troubleshoot and respond proactively to emergent issues during a review, including managing conflict and assessing for risk
  • Must have strong ability to work independently as well as cooperatively as a team member
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to manage work functions in order to meet deadlines and process commitments
  • Excellent written, spoken language skills in English are required, fluency in both English/French is an asset
  • Reviews are currently done remotely due to the pandemic, but the Accreditation Reviewer must be willing and able to travel regularly throughout Canada
  • Working from home office outside of Toronto can be arranged
