Description
The Addictions Recovery Support Worker provides ongoing support and referral services to participants of the ARC recovery program.
Timings:
- Thursday-Friday, 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., Saturday 10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.
Hours:
- 16 Hours Weekly
- Part-Time Contract- Maternity leave till Jan 2022
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports and advocates for program participants during their participation in the recovery program.
- Focuses on having empowering interactions with program participants, helping them redefine their self-image and improve self-confidence
- Conducts initial intake assessments, determining immediate needs and supports of the program participant
- Assists individuals in determining appropriate and mutually agreed upon goal achievement processes; facilitate effective problem-solving behaviors
- Facilitates educational and therapeutic groups for program participants
- Facilitates/supervises outings with program participants
- Engages in case conferences, during which team members discuss participant progress, treatment plans, program material, program procedures, etc.
- Maintains statistics and conducts reports as required
- Recommends and assists in the development of new program/policy initiatives to address ongoing client needs
- Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files/case notes
- Prepares written reports as requested by other agencies or individuals, following receipt of client’s endorsed disclosure authorization and in accordance with internal policies and procedures
- Networks with The Salvation Army, government, and community social service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients
- Regularly attends to self-care through appropriate de-briefing, etc.
- Actively pursues personal and professional development through reading relevant texts and professional journals, attending relevant workshops, seminars, conferences, webinars, etc.
- Works in accordance with the Salvation Army Code of Ethics, and maintains professional boundaries with program participants
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Duties
- Must attend all staff meetings and training seminars related to agency services if requested
- Must be prepared to participate in upgrading/training at the discretion of Residential Program Manager
- May be assigned other related duties according to agency needs at the discretion of the Residence Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Completed undergraduate degree in Psychology, Social work or Related Field
Experience
- Must have a minimum of two years related
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Must understand and reflect the ARC Philosophy, Standards, and Tenets.
- Must possess suitable typing skills, and basic computer literacy
- Must be calm in busy and sometimes stressful situations.
- Must be well organized.
- Must be presentable in appearance in accordance with ARC standards.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Must possess and maintain an active valid First AidC.P.R. certificate
- Must have effective oral and communication skills.
- Must have the ability to understand and be sensitive to cultural differences
- Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army – its mission, culture, and values
