Description
The Assistant Admin /accounting person performs a variety of administrative duties and accounting duties for Powell River Salvation Army.
Hours:
- 2 days a week 12-15 hours a week
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Petty cash –reconcile the invoices with what is in the petty cash, balance & submit cheque voucher to RAC for reimbursement
- Accounts payable invoices – Reviews invoices for payment in Agresso
- Assists in weekly deposits including member contributions and donations.
- Receipts donations in Shelby, keeping, files and maintains various reports and documents in a secure location
- Reviews invoices for payment in Agresso. code, scan and submit to Agresso
- Keeping the gift cards organized and kept up to date as they are spent.
- Distributes annual donation tax receipts through hand mail or post
- During the Christmas season They will work more hours as there will be more donations coming in.
- When the financial statements come in, they will sit with the Officers and go over them.
- Monitoring the budget with the CO’s.
- Typing and updating forms, letters, reports, and memos (such as receipts and thank you letters).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
Experience:
- Accounting experience would be an asset.
- Must have strong time management ability
- Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task is essential
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Easy Worship or the ability to learn quickly is essential
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees and the public
- Ability to follow and implement the Salvation Army Standards, Policies and Procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
