        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

The Administrative Assistant- Legal is responsible for providing general administrative support to the legal department including assisting in legal research, preparing correspondence, updating database information, filing and other special projects as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent’s duties include:

  • To provide general administrative support to legal counsel in several areas, including funding contracts, immigration, privacy and employment.
  • Supporting the legal department personnel with technology/computer issues.
  • Reviews and redacts documents considering privacy requirements.
  • Prepares routine correspondence, reports and forms.
  • Prepares correspondence for signature of legal counsel and responds to correspondence over his/her own signature.
  • Filing and file management.
  • Maintains library resources including updating loose-leaf legal publications.
  • Handles photocopying, scanning, formatting, transcription, proofreading etc.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Program:

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred
  • Is legally entitled to work according to the provincial / territorial legislations and regulations

Education and Experience

  • The position requires post-secondary education in legal, business or a related field,
  • The position also requires someone who is tech savvy and able to problem-solve tech issues.  Expertise with Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro is an asset.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of one year experience
  • The Administrative Assistant should have experience in legal, business or a related field, and must be self-motivated and be able to work with deadlines.
  • The Administrative Assistant must also be able to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • The position requires tact and the ability to communicate with senior Salvation Army personnel and others in a congenial and professional manner.
