The Role

The Admissions and Registration Assistant is a cross-trained position responsible for all aspects of admitting and registering credit and apprenticeship students into programs and courses. This position admits and registers students, processes payments, issues official transcripts, provides information services, maintains confidential student records and files, and provides advice and referrals by phone and in person.

The incumbent is expected to have a service focus in order to provide in depth information, advice and referrals to clients while ensuring confidentiality of personal and financial information is maintained at all times.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Certificate in Office Administration or a related field as well as a minimum of one year of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook

able to use student information systems

able to use apprenticeship registration systems

able to use cash register and point of sale machines

knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly FOIP and how it is applied to the post-secondary sector in Alberta

strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

excellent communication and interpersonal skills

high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
