Analyst – Industry Policy & Compliance

Overview:

We are currently seeking an, individual to join our team as an Analyst in the Industry Policy & Compliance department. In this role, you will use your skills to assist in automating and streamlining our business processes. You will also assist in the processing of licence applications for issuing, renewal and amendments of licences in the electricity and natural gas sector. Responsibilities:
Assist with the development of process improvements and automation solutions for select business processes

Assist with the processing and review of licensing applications by reviewing the financial, technical and other relevant qualifications of the applicant entities

Identify issues and assist with proposals where there is a need to regulate or license an industry practice or service provider.

Work interactively with other departments, intervenors and Board members on all procedural matters related to licensing applications.

Brief delegated decision makers on applications

Assist in the preparation of decisions and OEB Orders with appropriate direction and prepare certificates of compliance.

Conducts qualitative research on various innovation and process improvement topics in Ontario and other jurisdictions.

Communicates quantitative and qualitative findings clearly and concisely through visualizations, presentations, reports, etc.

Collaborates and coordinates with groups and individuals internal and external to the OEB, including, but not limited to, subject matter experts, the OEB’s legal department, Commissioners, and intervenors

Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in an area such as Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Public Administration or a related field.

Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in reviewing and processing applications for regulatory decisions.

Advanced verbal and written communication skills a must.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Knowledge of the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 and regulatory codes (e.g. Distribution

System Code, Transmission System Code, etc.).

Experience in the development of machine learning or process automation solutions

Experience in project management and process improvements, including the use of relevant systems and tools (e.g. Alteryx), would be an asset.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, prioritizing, problem solving and time management skills

Graduate degree or professional designation would be an asset

Experience with investigating, reviewing industry trends and evidence collecting would be an asset.

Experience with licensing or certifications processes would be an asset

Experience in a regulated industry or public utility would be an asset
