        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

This position works with the Kettle Campaign Supervisor and evening Assistant Supervisor to ensure the Kettle Campaign program aligns with the overall mission and reaches the fundraising goal.

DAYS and HOURS of work: Pre and post campaign – Monday to Friday – 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

During campaign – Monday to Saturday – 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Start date: November 3, 2021

Expected end date: January 14, 2022

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all logistics are in place for the implementation of the daytime Kettle Campaign shifts.
  • Work with the evening supervisor to maintain equipment and materials for the Kettle program.
  • Troubleshoot and follow-up on any concerns related to kettle program.
  • Create and communicate the pick up schedule daily to daytime Kettle Team Leaders.
  • Assist with training, supporting, scheduling, supervising and inspiring Kettle Campaign staff.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with businesses that support the Kettle Campaign.
  • Maintain the volunteer database in conjunction with other Kettle Campaign staff.
  • Review time sheets and mileage forms for the Kettle Team Leaders
  • Create an overview of each kettle location’s performance
  • Complete end of campaign statistics for the final report
  • Ensure the Kettle Campaign reflects the values, standards, and philosophy of The Salvation Army.
  • Assist with the implementation of the January Volunteer Appreciation event.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a High School Diploma
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
  • A 3-year Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.
  • A reliable personal vehicle, and vehicle insurance, for work business purposes.
  • A mobile phone, with text and image sending and receiving capabilities, for work business purposes.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience such as event management, volunteer management, fundraising and/or project management.
  • Experience scheduling and supervising a group of more than 6 staff.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Attention to details, problem solving and critical thinking
  • Good communication skills
  • Mature self-starter requiring minimal supervision
  • Ability to remain calm when there is high demand
  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
  • Competent at electronic data entry and familiar with database software, as well as the ability to analyze data
  • Proficient at mobile phone texting
  • Well-organized multi-tasker who enjoys and works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Desire to support the mission of the Salvation Army, work in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner
