9.5 Month Contractually Limited Term Appointment
Position # 11309CLT 9.5m – The Department of Sociology seeks to fill a 9.5 month contractually limited position at the
rank of Assistant Professor effective August 1, 2021. We seek candidates who would be qualified to teach and conduct
research in one or more of the following fields: Critical Race and Social Justice, Canadian Law and/or Criminal Justice, as
well as Critical Health and Food Studies. We would also expect the successful candidate to be able to teach core Sociology
courses which may include introductory courses or qualitative research methods.
Sociology at Acadia provides a critical scholarly analysis of how we understand and experience our social world. There are
three broad themes that define our program: knowledge and power, social justice, and the Sociology of everyday life. We
emphasize a commitment to public Sociology and transformative practices. These positions are subject to budgetary
approval.
Qualifications: The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Sociology or closely-related discipline. ABDs may be
considered.
