Automation Manager (Distribution Center)

WHO YOU ARE

  • Full Proficiency within the French Language is not a requirement within the first year of employment but will be thereafter.
  • You have an Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering,

Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Technician or other related

field or equivalent experience with Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems

without a degree.

  • You’ve worked in an automated warehouse environment for at least 3 years.
  • Familiarity with safe work practices including LOTO, OSHA 10 familiarity, and

general industrial safety.

  • You possess strong analytical skills and you’re capable of generating thorough

and comprehensive service reports with computer skills including MS Office.

  • You’re able to read and utilize mechanical & electrical schematics to assist in

troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and electronic components.

  • You can multi-task, prioritize workloads and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • You have strong relationship-building and communication skills and are a

strong team player.

  • You’re able to drive and implement change.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

  • Responsible for the overall management of the Automation systems installed at the site. This includes managing the onsite technicians (internal or external), acting as a key escalation point, and being the focal point for the customer on all automation related topics. Secure the delivery, on a day to day basis, the functionality of the logistics automation systems.
  • Responsible for the mechanical performance and troubleshooting of the automated equipment’s in the unit.
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities, planned repairs, and reactive repairs of the automated equipment.
  • Develop and ensure that the team is trained and kept up to date on health and safety.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings.
  • Compile detailed reports based on the work completed onsite.
  • Drive and build upon continuous improvement through team and documentation.
  • Responsible for site specific equipment set-up and training on proper equipment usage.
  • Provide broad based electrical, mechanical, and software technical ability along with a right first-time mentality and a proactive approach to identifying ways to improve the site’s performance.

OUR TEAM WITHIN IKEA

Central Fulfilment is a key component in IKEA Canada’s omnichannel network. IKEA Beauharnois is a new upcoming automated fulfilment site that will replace our current fulfilment center in Brossard and it is an important part of IKEA Canada’s journey to become the leading home furnishings omnichannel retailer. The Beauharnois location, is approximately 50km away from Brossard. The automation planned for the new Beauharnois facility will benefit both co-workers and customers, with automated solutions such as ASRS and goods to person picking and packing. The establishment of the new site will be completed within the next year and the Automation Manager will be a key resource to make it happen.
