A rare executive management role in Northern BC for an experienced natural resource leader
We have a tremendous opportunity for a natural resource leader to join a tight-knit team of talented professionals representing Northern BC Regional Operations for the Ministry of FLNRORD.
Working at the regional level in resource management, the Regional Executive Director (RED) directs a broad range of programs and services for the North Area Region, contributing a regional perspective to provincial policies, programs and long-range strategic planning. The RED leads business transformation that enables durable, sustainable natural resource decisions; and builds partnerships with a variety of stakeholders – other ministry groups, external agencies and organizations, federal, Indigenous, local and provincial governments, industry, stakeholders and the public.
This vital leadership position works with the North Area Assistant Deputy Minister, the Regional Management Team (RMT) and the Area Leadership Team (ALT) to determine northern regional priorities and allocate human and financial resources according to the strategic direction and guidance provided by ministry executive or developed regionally.
Among the many critical responsibilities of this position are:
Periodically acting as the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) for regional operations.
Achieving regional, area and ministry goals through directing all operational, technical, financial, and human resources within the region.
Establishing effective working relationships and/or partnerships with other ministry groups, external agencies and organizations, federal, Indigenous, local and provincial governments, industry, other stakeholders and the public.
Providing strategic advice and direction for program development, planning frameworks, policies, action plans, long-term strategies, legislation and regulation development, monitoring and reporting activities and stands development to ensure they meet ministry service plan goals and provincial objectives.
Developing annual and long-term business and work plans.
Leading the development of issue papers, business cases, forecasts and reports for executive.
Providing advice and options to executive on existing or emerging regional issues and priorities.
Resolving issues affecting operations and managing sensitive and potentially controversial regional operational issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Education:
A degree in natural resource management or a related discipline (e.g. forestry, biology, agrology, geography, public administration, etc.) and a minimum of seven years of recent (within the last nine years), related experience* OR
A minimum of nine years of recent (within the last eleven years) related experience*
- Recent, related experience must include:
Leading and directing all aspects of a natural resource management program for an organization of similar scope and complexity.
Leading issues management and mediating/negotiating solutions to high-profile resource management issues with a wide network of stakeholders.
Supervising management teams and multidisciplinary professionals in a union environment.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience:
Leading significant organizational change/business transformation projects/initiatives.
Engaging, consulting and/or collaborating with Indigenous people.
