This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

The Operating Room Booking Clerk is responsible for the booking and scheduling of surgical patients for the Operating Theatres, Endoscopy Clinic, Day Procedures, and Pre-Op Clinic in a prompt and efficient manner. The Booking Clerk works closely with the Manager of Surgical Services, OR Clinical Leader, Access Manager, physicians, and nurses.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade XII or equivalent required
  • One year related clerical experience, or successful completion of a recognized one year secretarial/office/business program
  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course with demonstrated knowledge of surgical terminology required
  • Previous booking experience in a hospital setting is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications for Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook is required
  • Experience with Meditech, Access Repository, Share, CWS, PAR-NS, and ORM is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated excellence in prioritization skills with the ability to accomplish tasks within varying time limitations
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Must demonstrate a customer focused service which interacts with the public in person and on the telephone in a pleasant, courteous and efficient manner
  • Demonstrated ability to function well as a team member
  • Previous work attendance may be considered
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Permanent, Full-Time position; 70 hours biweekly

Salary Information

$20.0857 – $21.9045 hourly
