The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to join the Southern Region Design and Construction Division, Bridge Branch. This position will be located in Regina.
The Bridge Project Manager will work with other specialized transportation professionals in a project and team environment. As a Bridge Project Manager, you will be responsible for engineering activities associated with the inspection, design, construction, repair and strength assessment of bridges located on the provincial highway system. This position involves working on a wide range of bridge, culvert and low-level crossing projects and also involves in the review of Provincial Overweight Bridge Permits on both the Provincial Highway system and the Municipal Road system.
You will be required to prepare working drawings, tender documents and manage bridge construction projects for high level of quality and prompt delivery during all phases; conduct condition inspections and prepare inspection reports for bridges on highway and municipal systems; negotiate agreements and maintain effective communication with regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants, utility companies, businesses and municipalities to ensure cost effectiveness; and participate in the development of policies, practices, procedures and standards related to highway and municipal bridge/structures design and construction.
You must be willing to work irregular hours, travel extensively throughout the province, work in a field environment and have a valid driver’s license.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of structural engineering related to bridge design, evaluation and construction as well as knowledge of bridge and culvert hydraulic design, foundation design and material science. This position also requires general knowledge of geotechnical foundation design, hydraulic design, materials, project management, preservation and maintenance, operations, design, construction, contract administration and contract law. Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of Canadian Highway Bridge Design Codes.
The successful candidate will possess a university degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in structures from an accredited university and be eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).

You will possess a 2 year degree/diploma in engineering, be eligible for registration with Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and have 8 years related work experience in a related field and be eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
