Career Education Coordinator

Job Summary

The Career Education Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations and administration of UFV’s comprehensive career education programming strategy, coaches and supervises student workers and volunteers, and cultivates relationships with employers and stakeholders.

The incumbent delegates work to CECE office staff, ensures follow-up, and identifies solutions for any issues that might arise. The Coordinator conducts needs assessments, and develops and implements strategies to maximize student and employer engagement. The Coordinator facilitates employer relationships, strengthens connections, and builds new relationships to enhance opportunities for students.

Qualifications

A relevant Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution is required; supplemented with courses/training in career development topics.

The successful candidate will have:
Minimum three (3) years’ experience participating in career development activities; ideally in a post-secondary setting.

Completion of a Career Development Practitioner Certification is preferred.

Training in marketing, counselling, teaching and workshop facilitation, curriculum design, and/or project and event management is an asset.

Knowledge of the Centre for Experiential and Career Education, its programs and services.

Experience interacting with students, faculty, employers, and community stakeholders.

Experience in supervising others, managing relationships and working cooperatively with other internal units, employers, and external stakeholders.

Experience in program and event planning, development, implementation, and evaluation, and leading entrepreneurial and revenue-generating activities.

Experience in participating in marketing and external communication strategies, monitoring budgets and making budget-related decisions.

Proficient in Microsoft Office. Some experience using Terminal 4, FAST, Banner, and

CareerLink is an asset.

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

This position requires work at multiple campus locations (Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, and Hope), and working flexible hours including evenings and weekends, access to personal and reliable transportation is required.
