HOURS:
- Casual/Contract – Work when needed up to 24 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is able to work in adherence to The Salvation Army’s Christian Mission and Values
- Awareness and compliance with CHWK Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain BC Food Safe standards and training.
- Maintain in good standing a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
- Ensures the safety and security of the vehicle and goods while in his/her care.
- Is responsible for the daily and overall safety, cleanliness, maintenance, and operation of the vehicle, and maintains required records.
- Performs Pre-trip inspections of vehicle and maintains vehicle logs.
- Plans daily routes in coordination with Food Bank Manager for food delivery or food donation pick up.
- Inspects and determines if donated items are acceptable for re-use or re-sale and tactfully responds to the public if unable to accept the donation.
- In cooperation with the Food Bank Manager, provides Food Warehouse services including the receipt and storage of food donations as directed.
- Assist with assembling and packing of food orders for other groups and partners.
- Is knowledgeable in regards to company policies as well as other Regulations such as Provincial & Municipal highway traffic acts.
- Obtains receipts for gasoline expenditures and submits them for payment with element card.
- Promptly reports to the supervisor all accidents involving the vehicle, personal injury and/or other damage.
- Disposes of garbage and is sensitive to recycling.
- Warehousing services, for all three warehouses, including the receiving of all donations/supplies in cooperation with Food Bank Coordinator, organizing/sorting, storage and distribution of product.
- Promptly reports to the supervisor all accidents involving the vehicles, personal injury and/or other damage.
- Learn and use Food recovery program using the Food Mesh App.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of High School
- Ability to pass Police Security Clearance Certificate
- Trained in BC Food Safe
- Working knowledge of universal precautions and communicable diseases.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
- Ability to function with flexibility and interruptions.
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills
- Forklift license or certificate an asset
- Prior warehouse experience an asset.

The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):
- Universal precautions
- Current Certification in first Aid/CPR
- Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC)
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clean driver’s abstract
