Chaplain

Minimum Requirements:

We are hiring Correctional Chaplains who meet the below qualifications in the following faith groups:
Christian
Jewish

· Must be considered Clergy or equivalent in your Faith.

· Must be considered a Qualified Professional Official Representative (QPOR) for your faith tradition

· 3 years of experience performing rites and rituals in your faith tradition for compensation

· An education (this varies, it’s whatever your faith group needs to consider you a QPOR)

· Ordination or licensure by a recognized ecclesiastical body is required.

· A mandating faith organization recognizing you as a QPOR

· Bilingual French and English

Job Responsibilities:

· Originate, direct, facilitate, and coordinate religious services, rites, rituals and spiritual educational activities as appropriate to offenders.

· Responding to crises and special situations unique to the correctional environment.

· Creating and maintaining an atmosphere within the institution’s sacred spaces that enables all faith communities to respectfully use those spaces

· Conducting and facilitating prayer, study, and personal growth groups

· Interacting and dialoguing with members of the community, including multiple faith communities, concerning their role in chaplaincy and restorative processes.

· Recruiting, selecting, and training suitable volunteers to be involved in Chaplaincy activities

· Involvement in Restorative Justice Week activities and the promotion of restorative justice principles and practices
