Description
This position seeks to facilitate a learning environment that encourages children to become fully devoted followers of Jesus, growing in the knowledge of the Bible and other spiritual disciplines that encourage intimacy with God. This includes the facilitation of age-appropriate curriculums, the development, and management of volunteer teaching teams, and the use of creativity to teach and inspire.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the life of this church as part of our worshipping congregation and will model and encourage participation in corporate worship.
HOURS:
- 20 per week, including Sundays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and gives oversight to the weekly Sunday school program.
- Facilitates Jr. Solider (youth leadership) program.
- Identify, recruit, screen, and give leadership to a team of volunteer kids’ ministry leaders.
- Oversees administrative duties related to children’s ministry, including management of kids’ ministry budget, statistical reporting, etc.
- Maintains ongoing communication with children and parents via email, phone, and social media.
- Creates opportunities to connect with the church and community kids and families through relevant events, service opportunities, and partnerships.
- Facilitate summer camping ministry outreach
- Create safe and friendly spaces where the message of Jesus can be shared with others.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Completion of formal 2 or 3 post-secondary academic years in a related field of study (e.g., Youth/Christian Education/Biblical Studies)
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience leading volunteers and working with children’s programming.
- Proficiency in a computerized environment; skilled in social media and Microsoft Office.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- A growing, personal commitment to Jesus Christ and an active commitment to ongoing growth in biblical knowledge and practice that is evident in daily life.
- An aptitude to teach and mentor children in the faith.
- Strong communication and networking skills
- Understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

- Valid drivers license
