The Christmas Kettle Campaign Assistant assists the Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator in ensuring the smooth operation of the Christmas Kettle Campaign for Stratford/St. Marys/Mitchell Community & Family Services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator with the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; host at a kettle as required and ensure kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature and promotional materials.
- Assist in the recruitment of kettle volunteers as needed.
- Help foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and kettle sites.
- Assist in the daily regular activities of the Christmas season.
- Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
- Work in cooperation with the Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator
- Perform other position related duties as required.
Conditions of Employment:
- This is a temporary full time seasonal position based on 40 hours per week
- Shifts will include days, afternoons, evenings and Saturday shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. and include a ½ hour unpaid meal break where applicable
- Schedule will vary according to requirements of responsibilities
- Flexibility in scheduling is required.
- Travel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed Secondary School
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset
- Ability to work with little supervision but also able to accept direction when necessary
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy work environment
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Good organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs/10 kilos
- Self-motivation and discipline
- Experience with general office equipment and Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license, own vehicle and insurance, a copy of current driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion, is required.
- Provide an original copy of a Criminal Record Check and/or Vulnerable Sector Screening check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
- May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
