The Salvation Army is looking for outgoing, personable, and self-motivated individuals who want to make a positive impact in their community. If you love the art of conversation, can engage the public and inspire them to donate to the cause, then you should join our team as a Christmas Kettle Host Driver. Every dollar raised through this program goes back into the community to help feed, clothe, and shelter those in need, while helping others escape violence and addiction.
Hours:
This is a temporary seasonal position. Hours may vary with candidates from 15-30 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Host Kettle location and engage with public to encourage donations
- Set up, take down, care and monitoring of Kettles during shift
- Respond to donor / public questions and or make appropriate referral Liaise with Regional Coordinator; report any issues or concerns to Coordinator
- Liaise with store or property personnel/staff
- Issue charitable tax receipts when necessary
- Manage inventory and request supplies when necessary
- Replenish materials for your designated locations
- Safely collect and deliver donations from designated locations back to the local office
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience/ Required Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Sensitivity to social issues within our community
- Highly accountable, disciplined in standards, and results-driven
- Interest in learning and applying feedback
- Ability to work independently & as part of a team
- Previous Sales Experience and asset
- Interest in working outdoors
- Can lift objects up to 25lbs
- Ability to stand for 5 hours
- Valid Drivers License
- Positive working attitude
- Positively represents The Salvation Army and reflect its mission and core values
Preferred Skills / Capabilities:
- Fundraising experience
- Multiple languages are an asset
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to:
- Attend a Kettle Host training session
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
