Description
This is a temporary, seasonal position based on 12 hours per week up to a maximum of 22 hours per week. Normal operating hours of this facility are 8:30am to 9:30 pm and your shifts will fall within this range and will vary as per the requirements of the role. Shifts will include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts and split shifts. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator with the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; host at a kettle as required and ensure kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature and promotional materials.
- Assist in the recruitment of kettle volunteers as needed.
- Help foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and kettle sites.
- Assist in the daily regular activities of the Christmas season. i.e. food voucher distribution, toy depot administrative duties as assigned; provide support with Christmas assistance registrations as required.
- Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
- Work in cooperation with the Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator
- Perform other position related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed Secondary School
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs is an asset
- Ability to work with little supervision but also able to accept direction when necessary
- Good organization, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to lift up-to 20lbs./9.07kg
- Self-motivation and discipline
- Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting
- Experience/ Working knowledge in word processing, spread sheet use, general office equipment and Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license, own vehicle and insurance, a copy of current driver’s abstract that is satisfactory is an asset.
- Provide an original copy of a Background Check screening with vulnerable sector, that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
- May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
- Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
