Description
This is a temporary, seasonal position based on 37.5- 44 hours per week. Shifts will include days, afternoons and evenings. The working conditions are such to meet the operational needs of the job some flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work. The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs. Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
Travel is associated with this position.
Shifts: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break where applicable.
Start Date: November 1, 2021
End Date: December 31, 2021

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountabilities:
- Provide assistance with processing, unloading, documenting, and sorting donations of toys and food for the Christmas program and assist with preparing donated items for distribution.
- Assist with pick-ups of food and toy donations from community donors using program vehicle.
- Assist with set up and take down of toy and food Christmas hamper distribution centre.
- Provide assistance with sorting toy donations.
- Record statistical data in a clear, organized and accurate manner.
- Provide assistance in the Kettle campaign.
- Perform other position related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completed Secondary School.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- Must provide an original copy of a Background Check
- May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset
- Volunteer management skills.

- Proficient in working in a computerized environment; must demonstrate strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Power Point.
