Description
The Client Support Worker will attempt to build rapport and a positive working relationship with Clients, promoting an environment based on dignity and respect.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide fontline assistance and contact with clients as well as individuals seeking shelter; Interact with clients to facilitate relationship building
- Conduct intake assessments and discharges and complete relevant documentation;
- Monitor medication for all clients;
- Maintain awareness of community resources to assist clients in identifying and accessing services and programs;
- Assist clients with income support application and in acquiring IDs, MCP, Birth Certificate etc.;
- Clean client rooms upon discharge from the shelter
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of a university degree focusing in the area of psychology, special education, social work, or a related field.
- Experience in working with a marginalized population in an empowering community oriented environment.
- Ability to support residents while at an emergency shelter including assessments of needs
- Excellent working knowledge of community partners.
- Experience in a residential program preferred
- Effective communication and computer skills required
- A positive attitude and a commitment to a team approach and lifelong learning essential
- Current First Aid and ASIST Certification
