Communications and Knowledge Mobilization Officer, North America Program

Term: May 15, 2021 – April 30, 2022 (full-time contract with possibility for renewal)

Location: Our head office is in Montreal but this is a remote working position open to all applicants in Canada

About the role
The Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to increase Canadians’ knowledge of their country via conferences, publications, learning materials and research. Our international and interdisciplinary research team is conducting a three-country study, COVID-19’s differential impact on Indigenous Peoples and Newcomers: A socioeconomic analysis of Canada, the USA and Mexico. The study seeks to understand the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19 among Indigenous peoples, newcomers, and racialized groups in Canada, the USA and Mexico. As an extension of this study, to better coordinate and consolidate research and public knowledge around the social policy impacts of the COVID-19 variants, the research team will convene an international network of academic, community, Indigenous governance, ethnocultural associations, and government partners.

Tasks and Responsibilities
The Communications and Knowledge Mobilization Officer, North America Program will be responsible for implementing an effective communication and knowledge mobilization strategy to share the tri-country study findings and the research conducted by members of the network on COVID-19 with decision-makers across Canada. The communication strategy will involve but not be limited to producing infographics, publishing on digital communication platforms, and assisting with the delivery of online learning initiatives. In this role, you will be adept at managing multiple deadlines, working under pressure, and managing your own workload.

More specific tasks include:

  • Convert the study results and research on the social policy impacts of COVID-19 into online courses and learning modules
  • Write, design, create and edit engaging content for digital communications, including but not limited to videos, infographics, newsletters, etc.
  • Manage and update the study and the network’s website
  • Create social media content for different accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Assist when needed with the delivery of online courses and learning modules and other communication tasks for other ACS research projects

Minimum Qualification and Requirements:

  • University degree with a min. of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in communications, social sciences, etc.
  • Knowledge of an eLearning authoring software such as Articulate Storyline 360
  • Knowledge of a Learning Management System such as Moodle
  • Ability to work within multiple deadlines and effectively manage workload is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including tact, diplomacy and creativity
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of digital communication best practices
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Google Suite
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (eg. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Camtasia or other video editing tools is an asset
  • Knowledge of WordPress is an asset
  • English written and oral proficiency essential
  • French written and oral proficiency is preferred
  • Translation skills an asset
