RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is the lead for Communications and Government Affairs for GSK Consumer Healthcare in Canada. The manager will execute plans for media and employee communications, government affairs and external stakeholder interaction.

Build and defend GSK’s reputation

Manage oversight of issues and engage other functions accordingly to ensure an aligned response

Shape and maintain brand image through innovative and impactful PR campaigns in-line with Canada brand strategy

Build brand trust through authentic, earned media relationships and partner on paid influencer strategies

Act as media spokesperson for local media inquiries.

Engage and retain employees through internal comms strategies and tactics

Create and own internal executive communications plan for Canada GM

Provide communication tools, content and advice to support leaders with employee engagement

Partner with Human Resources to develop and implement a country-specific culture plan that supports change management initiatives necessary to drive the business

Manage internal, in-country communications channels and proactively identify gaps and solutions to ensure the right channel mix to deliver up-to-date and relevant information to the local audience. Develop and implement new, innovative communications channels and tactics as appropriate.

Own and proactively manage external visibility and thought leadership platforms for local GM, ensuring alignment with GSK CH Global narrative.

Identify external speaking opportunities for Canada GM to advance the overall reputation of GSK CH

Partner with Government Affairs to help manage relationships with local trade associations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Understanding of all communications platforms (internal and external) and media; and possess the ability to advise on the most appropriate channel mix and implement the best communications model

Strong skills in strategic communications planning and content creation (visual, written, etc)

Exceptional oral and written communications skills

Focus on results – ability to measure results across channels (traditional and digital), demonstrate ROI and/or added value of communications

Confident stakeholder engagement and management, capable of credibly influencing at a senior level.

Business acumen and understanding of commercial business.

Experience in dealing with the government and other external stakeholders. Experience and knowledge of political and policy areas.

Ability to identify and focus on key issues and priorities, to take complex briefs and simplify information quickly, and be able to explain them clearly to both lay and more sophisticated stakeholders.

Comfortable working in a matrix team and able to cope with ambiguity and manage multiple, complex issues.

Experience in governmental affairs, preferably within the healthcare or similar highly regulated industry would be an asset.

Well-developed knowledge of the consumer healthcare market, industry and regulations.

Demonstrated strategic thinking with ability to problem solve.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strategic and creative thinker who knows how to construct compelling stories that will resonate with both internal/external audiences and can manage a deliberate development process, including strong project management skills.

Proven experience developing content across a range of platforms and media (digital-friendly, visual/storytelling style, such as videos and infographics); versatility in creating both branded and unbranded content and willingness to innovate.

Experience with patient advocacy and consumer engagement a plus.

Employee communications planning and execution.

Superb networker who is able to build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders within the country.
