        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Position Purpose Summary:

The Community Ministries Program Worker assists in the organization, preparation and facilitation of Community Ministries programs in cooperation with and under the supervision of the Program Supervisor.

This is a permanent full time position at 37.5 hours per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently demonstrates empathy and concern for clients / families
  • Assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of food services and program areas
    • Equipment and appliance cleaning
    • laundry
  • Maintains program Inventories
    • Monitors inventory control for food services programs
    • Support inventory management initiatives as required for other programs
    • Receives and or declines, sorts / organizes non-monetary donations
      • Pick up donations – process and distribute for programs
  • Direct and supervise volunteers for assigned programs
  • Support seasonal or special programs i.e. Christmas hampers, kettles, toy run, Easter Camp, summer camp, school feeding programs, kid’s club, school supplies backpack program, sunshine bags, etc
  • Plan, prepare and facilitate Community Ministries Food Services Programs including: Breakfast and lunch programs, community meals, Weekend Investment in Nutrition or others as assigned by your supervisor
  • Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate statistical records
  • Work within established Salvation Army policies, procedures and budget
  • In cooperation with Program supervisor maintain inventory controls for programs
  • Food on the Move program facilitation (prepare, distribute lunches to children and youth throughout the city at assigned parks)
  • Upholds the mission and values of The Salvation Army in all aspect of required tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

*NOTE: You may be required to provide validated educational documentation.

Education/Certifications:

  • Driver’s License w/Driver’s Abstract (to be reviewed by management)
  • First Aid/CPR “C”
  • Food Safe
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

Experience:

  • 3-5 years
  • Knowledge & experience working with clients with complex needs and behaviours

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Post Secondary education in a related field an asset
  • Knowledge of typing, filing, and computers (Word, Excel, Outlook, program specific software)
