This is a permanent, part-time position based on 8 hours per week. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. The operational hours of this facility are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This is a unionized facility.
Shifts: Mondays, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. – schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare quality food in accordance with the approved monthly menu.
- Produce balanced and healthy meals for residents.
- Provide instruction to kitchen helpers and volunteers in food preparation.
- Keep track of hours worked for volunteers.
- Ensure that food waste is kept to a minimum.
- Assist with checking and putting away food orders from suppliers.
- Clean all food preparation devices ensuring they are maintained to a high state of cleanliness.
- Ensure the kitchen, pantry and the walk-in freezer/fridge are kept clean and organized.
- Keep updated inventory of all provisions.
- Prepare special luncheons as needed.
- Ensure that proper safety precautions and hygiene standards are followed.
- Treat all clients with respect and dignity.
- Maintain all records and reports as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- College diploma or Certificate in Food Management or its equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Possess a current First Aid and CPR certificate or willing to obtain.
- Ability to work both independently and under supervision.
- Ability to lift/carry loads up to forty pounds.
