Reporting to the Manager of Education Abroad this position provides programming support and service to VIU students and staff/faculty from across the institution. This position is required to:
Coordinate promotion/engagement, pre-departure and re-entry supports for students participating in Education Abroad programs
Develop and update program materials including posters, info sheets, brochures, e-newsletters, handbooks, guides, applications, web materials, templates, info bulletins, , orientation packages, etc.
Manage and maintain spreadsheets, student files, student data, checklists, and partnership database with accuracy and in accordance with privacy legislation
Administer Ed Abroad scholarship and funding opportunities Administer financial processes including student payments, refunds, wire transfers, credit card payments and expense reconciliations
Develop program survey and evaluation tools
Support student Work-Op position(s) in coordinating student social, recreation and engagement activities
Liaise with international partners and stakeholders
Manage Education Abroad web content and Social Media platforms
Organize engagement activities across campus including info booths, classroom presentations and events
Support key internationalization activities on campus
Provide administrative support to the Education Abroad team
Represent Education Abroad on various VIU committees
Contribute to Ed Abroad strategic and operational planning and reporting.
Qualifications:
Two-year post-secondary diploma from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum three years of recent related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Ability to work independently and handle large volumes of work during peak periods (September-November, January-April)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to switch between detailed tasks quickly with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
High level of oral and written communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills, content writing and editing for multiple audiences
Ability to research, interpret and summarize information from a variety of sources with accuracy and provide recommendations to inform program delivery
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and problem solving skills
Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs, particularly Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within an educational/post-secondary setting.
Experience using a student record system
Proficiency in Adobe Pro and Photo Shop or other design software.
Experience studying, volunteering or living abroad.
Proficiency in a language other than English
Undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Social Sciences or related/relevant discipline preferred.
