Country Manager, Canada

Leading Life Science tools provider MGI is looking for an experienced leader to develop and manage go-to-market and sales efforts in Canada. This position is responsible for managing the existing Canadian team and all commercial activities in Canada, such as establishing and implementing a regional strategy to develop and grow MGI businesses and hire and grow the local commercial teams. In this position, you will fully utilize your leadership and sales skills in maximizing MGI business in Canada. You will also be a key member of the MGI Americas leadership team. MGI products include sequencing platforms, automation instruments, and consumables, and other tools for life sciences and diagnostics fields.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for all MGI businesses in Canada, including all instruments and consumables. Ultimately accountable for the revenue and profits in Canada.

As a key member of Americas Commercial Operation Leadership Team, develop and execute overall commercialization strategies for Americas and beyond. Develop and implement internal policies and processes for commercial operations;

Work closely with the Product Management team and other teams to enable consistent and sustained business growth.

Participate in the development of go-to-market strategy and marketing materials as needed;

Manage and Hands-on sales to accounts in all Canada;

Hire and grow sales team as business grows. Coach and inspire team members to achieve overall business goals.

Potentially manages and leads a combined direct/ indirect sales organization

Regularly communicates and reviews strategies and status of business, market, and competitor environment, using reporting systems and processes

Perform supervisory activities including recruitment, coaching, counseling, and conducting performance reviews of department personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor or equivalent educational background in life science or related field

Proven history of life science instrument and platform sales over 10 years.

Successful experience in reaching sales goals and growing business at above market rate.

Business acumen and strategic sales skills with proven ability to develop and grow markets and key accounts/ partnerships through networking at all levels on the customer organizations

Customer focus: understand customer needs and what BGI can offer to address those needs. Proven track record of building and maintaining great customer relationships while meeting company business goals.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment are required

Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and comfortable working in a matrix organization

Travel within Canada and to the US as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in both RUO and IVD markets

Fluent in French and English
