The Writers Guild of Canada, the national association representing more than 2,300 professional screenwriters working in English-language film, television, radio and new media, is looking for a permanent, full-time Coordinator for its collection society, the Canadian Screenwriters Collection Society, which distributes authors’ levy payments.
The CSCS Coordinator assists with general clerical support functions as well as engages in extensive and often complex data analysis and background research. The Coordinator’s functions may vary to a large degree – from handling basic bookkeeping and banking transactions, to analyzing Excel spreadsheets, to inputting data, to online research, to attending conferences or sitting on technical committees. The Coordinator shall also be required to liaise with CSCS members, foreign collection societies, agents, non-members, etc.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
A) Data Entry:
- Reviewing spreadsheets provided by foreign collection societies to identify CSCS projects and/or members
- Calculating spreadsheets and entering data related to projects, members, payments, etc. into both spreadsheets and internal databases
- Entering and uploading member information into internal and external databases
- Reconciling payments received with payments released to writers
- Liaising with foreign collection societies to acquire proper payment information and clarification of data
- Possibly sitting on technical committees related to data entry and foreign databases
B) Performance of general office and clerical functions as required by providing organizational support. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Maintenance of proper filing systems; membership administration; report summaries; members lists; surveys; tasks for CSCS initiated projects
- Maintenance of records and other administrative functions
- Confirmation of qualifications for new member applications and processing of same for database
- Assisting with mass mailings to membership
- Keeping CSCS portion of website updated
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a Community College Degree, or equivalent
- 1+ years of administrative experience preferred
- Superior attention to detail
- Excellent English language communication skills, both oral and written are essential
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including time management, and demonstrated professionalism
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Excel, familiarity with Microsoft Word mail merge and Outlook
- Experience with databases and internet searches preferred
- Knowledge of collective management landscape an asset
- Facility with languages a definite asset
A reliable internet connection and the ability to work from home initially is required, however the candidate must be able to work on-site at the WGC office (downtown Toronto) when a return to work directive is in place.
The CSCS Coordinator position is a permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week. An excellent benefits package is provided.
