This exciting position is an integral role in opening the Riverstone Retiree Apartments, the first phase of the Riverstone Community at West 5, which will include Villas (opening in 2022) and a Retirement Residence (tentative opening in 2023).
About the Role:
The Culinary Manager is responsible for management and direction of the culinary operations. This involves the complete organization of all food preparation, planning for regular tenant dining and special events with and ability to meet time and financial restraints in service and be effective with multiple interruptions in the daily routine.
Develops the vision for the department with goals, objectives and standards by which the department delivers quality service to the residents within the operational financial expectations set out.
This position requires strong customer service skills for interaction with tenants to obtain feedback with a high regard for their input.
Ensure that the Culinary Department is meeting exceptional Customer Experiences by offering variety and nutritional menu options.
Oversee the Culinary team to support and interpret policies, procedures and practices and communicate these to the appropriate team members in a positive manner.
Ensures compliance with all public health regulations and in accordance with all industry and regulatory compliance agencies, the Ontario Retirement Communities Association, The Retirement Homes Act 2010 and O. Reg 166/1, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Fire Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and other pertinent legislated regulations/ standards.
Experience & Qualifications:
Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized college, preferably Red Seal.
Experience with quantity food preparation and execution, ideally in a 5-star hotel or Retirement Living environment. Skill in planning, coordinating and supervising comprehensive culinary programs.
Self-directed and team-oriented, demonstrated leadership with strong organization and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Graduate of recognized course in Food Service Supervision. Eligible for membership in CSNM.
Demonstrates knowledge of all regulations under the Acts that govern the standards in food preparation environments, upholds policies and procedures and maintains health and safety standards.
Proficient in computer applications with a willingness to learn multiple computer programs related to Finance, Operations, Recognition and Customer Relations.
Must provide documentation to support a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or Medical Note from Physician stating free from infectious disease and successfully complete a Police Records check.
