Exempt Staff, Permanent Full Time

The District of Kitimat is recruiting for the position of Deputy Director, Corporate Administration. This is an Exempt Staff, regular full-time position.

Under the direction of the Director of Corporate Administration, this position is responsible for assisting the Corporate Officer in the statutory duties of the municipality as per the Community Charter Section 148. This position requires a flexible work schedule to accommodate evening work.

Specific accountabilities include: preparing meeting agendas, attending meetings as the recorder, preparing minutes, bylaws, correspondence and related documentation, administering and evaluating the District’s Records Management Program, supervising subordinate , conducting municipal elections and acting as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Coordinator in the absence of the Director.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

A Diploma in Public Administration or a related field

Five years of direct work experience

A working knowledge of BC government legislation, along with the LGMA Records Management System, Municipal Elections and FOIPPA and Access to Information process is required

Experience managing in a unionized workplace at a management level preferred

An appetite for progressive change and continuous learning

Strong organizational and time management skills are essential

Exceptional interpersonal skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Ability to multitask with a strong attention to detail

Ability to work outside of regular business hours
