Reporting to the Manager or designate and working without general supervision in the community setting, the Diabetes Education Dietitian utilizes knowledge and clinical expertise in the area of diabetes management to function as a clinical resource, providing consultation and inservices to dietitians, physicians, other health care team members and other program teams. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nutritional care and treatment of clients with diabetes. Instructs and counsels clients and families with a variety of health and learning needs, in group and individual settings. Travels to various sites throughout the VIHA and other health care provider sites as required. Provides diatetics/nutrition teaching and problem solving.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Bachelor degree from a recognized university with a major in dietetics/nutrition; Completion of a recognized dietetic internship in an accredited hospital; Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) Certificate; and Three (3) years recent, related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Current registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia (CDBC)Demonstrated knowledge of the current theories, technologies and practicesDemonstrated knowledge of child/adult education principlesValid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
