        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

Valid BC Driver’s License

A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

This position provides marketing, communications, digital & social media and print services to the supplies and purchasing department.  This role is responsible for supplies and purchasing department’s online presence, brand and user experience, including S&P website and internal communications and large quantity print jobs for THQ departments and a few ministry units.  The incumbent ensures all branding requirements are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountabilities:

Marketing:

  • Ensuring websites, social media platforms, and email campaigns, all in alignment with overall business objectives and marketing plans.
  • Converting Trade North web visitors and social media fans into members and followers.
  • Coordinate web projects across departments, including developing and maintaining the master content calendar for S&P’s website.
  • Assisting Expansion of online retail sales.
  • Sending out mass emails or put post on social media for marketing purpose.

Communications:

  • Ensures that all advertising and publicity is done within Territorial guidelines and practices in consultation with Communications Department.
  • Participates in planning exhibits, conventions, road show events and required materials. May also participate in market research or public relations programs.

Digital & Social Media Content:

  • Create, develop and manage content for S&P (Trade North) websites (requires working with content management software); copyedit and proofread all web content; curate all user-submitted content.
  • Assisting in developing and implementing S & P’s social media strategy, including media campaigns
  • Monitoring S&P’s online reputation.
  • Managing and leveraging S&P’s digital resources such as video and photo archives
  • Producing reports on digital campaign performance and making recommendations to increase performance.
  • Keeping up to date on the latest tools, web technologies and social media tactics being used, and evaluating how S&P can take advantage of opportunities to use new technologies and approaches.
  • Tracking and reporting on all site metrics including social networking analysis tools.
  • Promotes web site and social media internally within the organization.
  • Digital photography; shooting and editing of video content.
  • Maintain linkages between S & P’s POS system and its e-commerce platform, including creating and maintain digital images and product descriptions for both.
  • Develop and maintain on-line (digital) and physical print catalogues and advertising materials.
  • Provide support for S & P’s book publishing activities, including hard and digital copies and related marketing and promotion.
  • Participates in sales meetings to coordinate advertising and publicity with sales activities.

Printing Service:

  • Create / maintain graphics, logos, envelopes received from client and internal
  • Create print ready documents for variable data printing
  • Keep current with technological developments in digital pre-press, technology, software applications, print and finishing as well as managing a large volume of print and finishing with tight deadlines
  • Multitask with colour, B&W print and finishing equipment
  • Schedule print work to meet deadlines and able to change as required
  • Maintain equipment in working condition: call for service, replace toner and other consumables
  • Operate and manage various photocopy and bindery equipment in order to complete customized printing orders for print shop customers
  • Feed materials into machines for stitching, folding, ruling, gluing, roughing and indexing, as job requires.
  • Perform routine maintenance, adjustments and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Review job requests; schedules run to meet deadlines; keeps records of jobs completed for quality control.
  • Load machines with paper and supplies such as toner and fuser oil; moves cartons of paper from supply area to machines.
  • Prepare books, magazines, bulletins, notepads, wire bound documents, booklets, posters, business cards, cards, catalogues, flyers, inserts etc.
  • Prepare and package print jobs for delivery to customer.

Other Duties:

  • May be required to provide coverage to other staff as required (i.e., cash out customers, shipping & receiving, and driving).
  • Participates with special events, orders, and projects and annual inventory counting.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

The incumbent must have the following experience before hire:

  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience working across a variety of digital marketing areas, such as web design, digital media, social media, email, etc.
  • Minimum 3 years Digital Print experience
  • Deep knowledge of and active participant in social media.
  • A successful track record of planning, testing, launching, monitoring, optimizing and measuring social media campaigns
  • Excellent social marketing conversation skills with a strong history of active participation on behalf of a brand
  • Ability to identify priority of assigned tasks and manage time accordingly. Keen attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite of design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Magento ecommerce platform is an asset.
  • Video editing skills are strongly desired
  • Previous experience developing websites and web applications is a plus
  • Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army – its mission, culture, and values
