Role Overview
Arctic Leaf Inc. is a US and Canadian based UI/UX design and development agency that specializes in E-Commerce and web-based application services. Our bottom-of-the-funnel focus separates us from other agencies in the market, and thus are struggling to keep up with demand! We are looking for an addition to the team who is flexible and enjoys working with others in a team-oriented environment.

We have consistently grown year over year, and we are looking to maintain this growth, the ideal candidate will possess the desire to assist in this growth and collaborate on different trends to identify key strengths and opportunities.

The company is looking for a Digital Director. The Digital Director provides leadership, direction, support, and management for the web app development and quality assurance teams. This includes hiring, training, and managing personnel, in addition to administering employee performance reviews. The Digital Director utilizes their strong technical experience to suggest new technologies, enhance existing technologies, and ensure IT services are properly maintained.

The Digital Director serve as the subject matter expert for all other technical employees and will work closely with our E-Commerce Director for matters related to our E-Commerce line of service.

This position is a full-time salary exempt position. They would work closely with the founders of the business as well as the rest of the company directors.

This individual must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment while carrying out job duties as to matters significant to the company’s business by possessing the power to evaluate possible courses of action and to implement a decision after considering various options. It will be expected that this individual will be able to make an independent choice or decision free from immediate direction or supervision (and with respect to matters of significance), even if the decision is subject to approval by higher level management. When given special assignments and tasks, this will be executed under only general supervision.

NOTE: Starting pay varies and depends on experience.
Responsibilities

  • Manage routine aspects of digital initiatives relying on both internal and external resources.
  • Lead and direct creative, content, IT and other teams to deliver effective and scalable platforms.
  • Ensure to optimize business processes through customer-focused digital solutions.
  • Oversee all digital projects until completion.
  • Ensure smooth operation for all digital tools and applications (e.g. website, internet, servers)
  • Develop roadmap to support both user and business needs.
  • Identify and oversee implementation of 3rd party vendors and technologies to drive an effective customer experience.
  • Evaluate and improve eCommerce platforms to enhance effective sales growth.
  • Manage and implement rollout planning of all key phases.
  • Supervise the development team and quality assurance teams.
  • Train the development and quality assurance teams to use digital technologies.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to ensure brand consistency.
  • Ensure web best practices are met at all times.
  • Suggest new optimization methods to improve customer experience.
  • Communicate with the CTO on a daily basis.

Necessary Skills

  • Understanding and contextualizing client requirements (regardless of how they are presented) into Product requirements and identifying where small changes to requirements can have big changes to the impact in any of development effort, end-user experience, client satisfaction, or client business goals.
  • Ability to contextualize analytics and user recordings to inform both internal and external stakeholders about the impact of changes or what analytics could be added/modified to produce better results.
  • The ability to follow up any “I don’t know” thought with “Let me go research that and find out”.
  • Ability to effectively communicate your creative process, thoughts, ideas, and a point of view on your work with clients, account managers, management team and developers.
  • The ability to always stay calm and reasonable under all manner of challenging circumstances whether or not those circumstances arose from external pressure, internal actions, mis-understandings, errors in judgement or action, or any other circumstance whether in your control or not.
  • Have deep empathy for the user and their needs.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years experience managing a development team
  • 5+ years experience working in a leadership position where interaction with cross-functional teams was a daily activity
  • 3-5 years experience in a Sr. technical role with both architecture and development responsibilities
  • Experience with the entire Product lifecycle from conception to delivery on at least 15+ products
  • 3+ years experience in a client-facing role

Preferred Experience

  • 2-3 years experience in a role with requirements in one or more of Project Management, Product Management, Account Management
  • 2-3 years experience in a role that required building technical architectures from scratch
  • Some practical (not educational) experience in at least 3 interpreted programming languages and 1 compiled programming language

Education Requirements

  • BSc (or equivalent) degree in Computer Science, Digital technologies or relevant field preferred
  • AWS Cloud Certification (any) preferred
