eHealth Saskatchewan is seeking a dynamic, strategic leader for the position of Director, Communications. As a member of eHealth’s senior executive, you will be responsible for a range of core communications services (internal, external, etc.). You will set the direction and tone of eHealth’s communication function, including allocating the operating budget, policy and procedures, and be ultimately responsible for the results.

You will have a solid understanding and application of all elements of strategic communications planning. You will provide ongoing coaching and support to your team, inspire creative thinking, help achieve measurable results, and motivate staff to enhance their own leadership and communications skills. You will have particular expertise in organizational communications, media relations and issues management.

Our candidate of choice will manage eHealth’s annual communication plan, ensuring that communications activities are aligned with the organization’s key strategic directions. You will collaborate with stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) on the development and initiation of communications strategies and policies, while managing a small team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities to succeed in this role include:
Develops and manages the communication relationships between eHealth Saskatchewan and stakeholders at the regional, provincial, and national level to ensure initiatives and messaging are consistent with policy, capacity and strategic direction;

Establishes and implements policies, standards and guidelines to define the content of communications activities and provide central communications coordination for key corporate initiatives;

Directs, develops, implements and evaluates communications, marketing and correspondence materials to ensure consistent, timely and appropriate messaging about eHealth Saskatchewan policies and programs;

The Director shall research and write news releases, briefing notes, web articles, questions and answers, as well as speeches and speaking notes as required;

Facilitates media events and special events and identifies future media opportunities if appropriate, and acts as liaison with the media; and

Designs, monitors, evaluates and ensures functionality and quality of content for eHealth Saskatchewan’s website, internet, intranet and other communication vehicles utilized by eHealth Saskatchewan.

To succeed in this environment, you will typically bring a university degree in journalism, public relations or communications along with 10 years of progressive leadership experience. The successful candidate must be a team player, able to lead and collaborate, with a reputation for integrity and a focus on service excellence and innovation in their work.

You must be proactive, organized, flexible, and able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, manage multiple projects in a busy work environment, and you must be able to problem solve and take initiative to proactively plan.
