Overview

Reporting directly to the Vice President, National Operations the incumbent will be responsible for leading the Cosmetics Operations Team which includes both operations and systems and technology. This role is responsible for the creation, development and execution of Shoppers Drug Mart’s national cosmetics operations business strategy, including the everyday operational aspects of all format cosmetics department in-stores and all the technology and systems in support of the cosmetics operations. This role also provides overall leadership and management to a corporate team of colleagues who works within the franchisee SDM stores supporting the optical department – split level of responsibility with the LCL Optical department. The incumbent will equally enjoy looking at the bigger picture and focusing in on the details to ensure forward thinking strategies are grounded in operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

Collaborate with various teams and leaders within the business to lead and execute on the strategic cosmetics operations programs for the organization, acting as a SME on cosmetics with a deep understanding of competitive landscape.

Provide a clear vision and effective leadership to coach, develop, support and drive strategic innovation to direct reports.

Lead with a passion for results with the goal to drive business growth for stores, including cosmetics sales and productivity, cosmetics market share and cosmetic customer experience through the development and execution of engaging programs and periodic store events working closely with other businesses including merchandising, category and marketing

Accountable to all Cosmetics National Operating Standards of Practice for all Shoppers locations nationally (SOP’s development and maintenance).

Accountable for the development of Store Certification protocols and other key business supporting tools such as, but not limited to, business building store visits tools.

Provide support to all regional VP,Operations on their stores’ Cosmetics operational needs

Develop training for all Beauty Operations Specialists in the field who provide direct support to all stores including training on new programs and initiatives, business building, vendor selling support, etc

Monitor and analyze cosmetics competitors and develop competing strategies accordingly

Own and support the strategic vision and roadmap for cosmetics systems and technology including Cosmetic iPad/eClienteling collaborating with IT and other key stakeholders to successfully execute.

Oversees and provides leadership to pilots, project management, communications, while engaging multiple teams and stakeholders such as vendor management and consultants.

In partnership with the Marketing Team, guide and support the Pro-Team (Shoppers Drug Mart Social Influencers Team) with social media materials and strategy in addition to addressing any questions that may arise

Support the optical department by providing guidance to opticians in stores to address any people, performance or operational issues. Work closely with the Optical department at LCL.

Requirements

7-10 years work-related experience. Experience in the Cosmetics Retail Industry and expertise in competitive landscape of the cosmetics business is preferred.

Post-secondary education equivalent to a university diploma (minimum college) in Business or equivalent.

The successful incumbent will be thoughtful in the questions they ask, passionate about unpacking and framing problems and have a strategic mindset.

Shoppers Drug Mart experience is preferred.
