Candidates are invited to apply for the full-time position of Director, Culinary Services.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Retirement Operations, the Director, Culinary Services will work with the Esprit Leadership Team in a variety of capacities, both in the field and at their home office. The role will have a strong emphasis on the further development and implementation of culinary standards that will improve the quality of life for residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides consultative services, where directed, including on-site visits and telephone/e-mail consultation.
When required, offers a hands-on approach to leading, mentoring, and filling in as required to support both the culinary and dining staff.
Maintaining food quality in compliance with regulations of company policies and culinary standards.
Will have the expertise to provide direction and assistance for the standardized implementation of Esprit policies and procedures.
May conduct operational & risk reviews, with follow-up as directed and makes recommendations for corrective action plans and evaluation.
Develop and refine standards of culinary techniques, quality and follow-up to enhance team member experience
Develop and further refine standards of dining room service delivery to enhance resident and guest experience
Evaluates culinary program on an ongoing basis to capitalize on opportunities, including menu development
Monitors culinary financial performance, forecasts, assists with annual discussion and ensures that the budget’s revue and expense goals are attained
Monitor the results of operations compared to the budget monthly
Oversees and monitors the ordering and receiving program for all community products and supplies to ensure proper quality, quantity, price and safety on all purchases
Assists with orientation and recruitment of culinary and serving team members as required.
Help plan and approve marketing and promotion activities relating to food and beverage
Collaborates with the Regional Directors of Operations in assisting assigned communities to achieve excellence in provision of care and services.
Attend regular meetings with the Esprit Team and assumes the lead on assigned projects.
Ability to travel within Canada is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Highly motivated and passionate about senior living
Graduate of recognized college food preparation program
Red Seal certification preferred
Knowledge of senior living sector legislative requirements, CQI principles, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Minimum three years of Retirement or Hospitality experience in a leadership role
Good leadership, organizational & interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with others and an ability to effect change.
Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
Demonstrated interest and involvement in professional activities and continuing education.
Excellent written and oral communication.
Certifications: HACCP, Safe Food Handling and Smart Serve
