The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to support the needs of the property and casualty (P&C) insurance companies senior finance leaders on issues related to capital, accounting and financial regulation policy initiatives.
Duties And Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of meetings and projects related to capital, accounting and financial regulation policy initiatives affecting P&C insurers
Liaise with regulators and the industry’s senior finance staff to gain a thorough understanding of the capital framework and related regulatory matters, IFRS 17 or other accounting changes and their implications for industry operations and regulatory requirements
Prepare meeting agendas, background papers, briefing notes, commentary and presentations on finance-related issues
Prepare industry submissions
Additional responsibilities and projects related to economic analysis and industry data management
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at least eight years of experience in economic or financial analysis with knowledge of prudential regulation and a master’s degree in economics (or a closely related discipline, including an MBA). Insurance industry experience, knowledge and understanding of capital markets, a professional designation in accounting or a CFA designation are considered assets.
In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:
Sound understanding of economic/financial/accounting theory and methods.
Experience conducting analysis on financial sector issues.
Proven ability to extract, process and analyze data, converting analytical insight into policy recommendations.
Effective interpersonal skills and evidence of teamwork.
Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Discretion in working with sensitive or proprietary information.
Demonstrated self-direction, judgment, discretion and initiative.
Effective administrative and organizational skills.
