In this role, you will lead a diverse team to transform the Employee and Labour Relations Department of a large, complex, multi-site community hospital. Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, you’ll lead enterprise-wide Labour and Employee Relations initiatives and strengthen the core Strategic Human Resources Business Partner and Labour Relations function, supporting more than 6500 staff across five sites. Leading by example as a valued HR partner, you will modernize labour relations and employee relations, and introduce new programs and approaches to set William Osler apart as an employer of choice.

The Director of Employee and Labour Relations will have an opportunity to take this department to the next level of strategic impact. Building on a strong foundation, there will be opportunities to enhance service models and establish client services benchmarks and metrics for the team.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Director will act as a thought partner, trusted advisor and coach to help managers be exceptional people leaders. This individual will develop and implement a “best in class” service delivery model integrated with the overall HR function. He or She will lead and inspire an engaged, high-performing team of specialists and will continue to develop their skills and abilities to support leaders through coaching and mentoring.

The Director will set a clear vision for operational excellence, including strategy, practices and objectives. They will ensure the effective implementation of new HR initiatives and continuous improvement activities, operating policies, and best practice decision-making processes and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

10 years’ progressive HR experience with a track record of success in Labour & Employee Relations and 7+ years in management.

You hold a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related discipline; Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) preferred.

A high performer with a reputation as a leader of change, adept at building productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Customer-focused and able to deliver innovative solutions informed by stakeholder needs.

Action-oriented and can make quick, quality decisions and deliver superior results.

Significant experience in a large complex unionized environment with a proven track record building strong relationship with bargaining agents.

Superior communicator at all levels, able to influence others towards achieving goals.

You thrive on balancing and meeting tight deadlines in a busy, fast-paced environment.
