Position Summary
- Manages facilities and all building operations – HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, oversees life safety systems, elevators, etc.
- Supervises and oversees development of the Facilities and Building Operations Teams
- Recruits, coaches, mentors, develops, evaluates and manages the performance and advancement of staff
- Maintains high level of quality customer service and experience for all stakeholders
- Prepares tender documents for RFP, reviews bids, negotiates terms and prepares contract documents
- Approves service contracts up to authority level and monitors sub-contractor performance
- Maintains liaison with primary partners, tenants, external service providers and other similar stakeholder groups to ensure obligations of applicable agreements between the parties are being met.
- Meets all service level performance indicators, monitors results of service performance indicators and develops action plan for deviations
- Develops and maintains complex preventative and corrective maintenance schedules; performs all maintenance to ensure asset integrity and value of all building systems and architectural components
- Ensures compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environment, building code and health and safety issues by applying cursory knowledge of legislation related to these areas
- Performs annual inspection, evaluates the condition of all building components, and derives a project/priority plan
- Responsible for the development of budgets and capital project forecasts, and tracking of expenditures related to approved projects
- Meets annual targets as per budget plans and perform cost benefit analysis where applicable
Position Qualifications:
- University degree or professional engineer in a related discipline
- Professional designation in one of the following: CPM, CFM, RPA, FMA or related equivalent
- Eight to ten years’ experience in a property/facility management environment
- Experience in the post-secondary education sector preferred
- Excellent people management skills
- Self-starter, willing to learn, able to work independently
- Excellent business management/development, planning, organizing and negotiation skills
- Strong computer skills and technical skills
- Knowledge of building standards and requirements
- Strong customer/community focus
- Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines under pressure
- Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required upon hire
