We are looking for a Director, Food and Beverage to make an impact on developing people, communicating with employees and implementing seasonal and long-term business strategies to drive operations and services within areas of responsibility. Reporting to the VP, Food and Beverage this role will be responsible for the following:
Key Accountabilities
Developing and Maintaining Food and Beverage
Set expectations and hold food and beverage leadership team accountable for demonstrating desired service behaviors.
Oversee and manage Catering, Concessions, Food Services Warehouse and Training;
Reviews financial reports and statements to determine how Food and Beverage is performing against budget;
Works with food and beverage leadership team to determine areas of concern and develops strategies to improve the department’s financial performance.
Establish challenging, realistic and obtainable goals to guide operation and performance.
Strive to improve service performance
Developing and Maintaining Budgets
Develops and manages Food and Beverage budget.
Monitors the department’s actual and projected sales to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded and opportunities are identified and addressed.
Ensures cash control and liquor control policies are in place in food & beverage areas and followed by all related colleagues.
Focuses on maintaining profit margins without compromising guest or associate satisfaction.
Ensure department heads input schedules according to labor standards/ productivity standards
Leading Food & Beverage Teams
Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocate sound financial/business decision making; demonstrate honesty/integrity; lead by example within assigned business areas and the broader Food and Beverage teams;
Encourage and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members;
Achieve and exceed goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc;
Serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors;
Implement systems in place to ensure that all colleagues have the tools and resources they need to perform their jobs in an efficient manner
Develop means to improve profit, including estimating cost and benefit, exploring new business opportunities;
Identify opportunities to increase profits and create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation and driving necessary change;
Ensures that regular, on-going communication occurs in all areas of food and beverage (e.g., pre-event briefings, staff meetings);
Ensure that the information is widely shared and communicated. Practice open and honest communication with all colleagues;
Create an environment where the workplace is structured in such a way where the F&B colleagues can achieve their goals;
Conduct audits to ensure the outlet colleagues are following CSEC policies and procedures
Develop a platform to celebrate, recognize the efforts of the colleagues for their contributions and accomplishments;
Cultivate a culture where the colleagues remain engaged and reduce turnover;
Regularly audit outlets and reviews;
Establish and maintains open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and entire food & beverage team. Ensures direct reports do the same for their team.
Develop a food and beverage operating strategy that is aligned with the CSEC business strategy and leads its execution.
Provide strategic leadership around staff planning, recruitment and training programs.
Actively mentor and coach staff.
Use adult learning principles to conduct training for new and existing employees
Practice safe behaviours
All other duties as assigned.
THE INDIVIDUAL
Educational Requirements:
The successful candidate will have the following:
Post-secondary education focused on Business Management along with Adult Educations and Training certificates within the hospitality field is ideal.
Required Skills/Experience:
5+ years of progressive management and experience within a hospitality venue.
Knowledge of the hospitality industry and a multifaceted organization.
Must be able to take direction and work independently in a fast paced environment.
