GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role of the General Manager is to ensure the proper function and efficient management of NYHA’s operations. The incumbent of this position is responsible for the following staff:
a Payroll and Administrative Services Manager,
a Buyer,
a Receptionist, and
14 Coordinators of Youth Centres
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exercise a leadership;
Set the objectives of the different Youth Centres with Coordinators;
Create a culture favouring the engagement of all employees (meetings, coaching, performance evaluation, etc.)
Ensure that Coordinators understand NYHA’s policies and that they interpret and administer them accordingly;
Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with the Board of Directors;
Recruit and/or assist Coordinators in the recruitment, interviews, and employee selection process to ensure that they have the technical and personal skills required to perform their duties;
Ensure that all employees are supported as part of their integration and that they receive the necessary training;
Direct the day-to-day operations of the organization to ensure its efficiency and effectiveness;
Ensure regular monitoring of employee performance, including an annual performance evaluation;
Direct activities related to planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating events;
Provide coaching and mentoring to employees as needed to improve their performance;
Take if necessary, disciplinary measures requested by Coordinators for employees by using procedures in accordance with NYHA’s applicable bylaws and policies;
Ensure that all employees (e.g. Administrative, Youth Centre staff) receive the benefits they are entitled to receive by the NYHA working conditions, including the change of salaries according to their experience in the organization;
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with customers, suppliers and subcontractors;
See to the application and compliance with internal and external health and safety standards;
Manage finances so as to ensure that the organisation has the necessary funds to finance current operations, equipment acquisitions and other investment needs;
Plan and anticipate the equipment needs necessary for the proper functioning of operations in Youth Centres;
Evaluate and authorize the purchase of new equipment after consultation with the relevant parties;
Orient and supervise internal communication;
Approve project proposals; attend and Lead Coordinators’ conference calls;
Do the Igloo Tours along with the consultant on training and also travel for training and meetings;
Represent NYHA in conferences and other regional meetings;
Collaborate with the Planning and Programming Officer, Support for Community Organizations and Programs of NRBHSS.
