What can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Information Technology and Business Optimization is responsible for developing and delivering a long-term I.T. strategy that enables iGaming Ontario to fulfil its business goals by ensuring that the information technology systems operate at peak performance and by identifying opportunities to optimize automation and business processes.
The Director, Information Technology and Business Optimization will build, lead and manage the IT Branch and act as a strategic advisor the Executive Director and Senior Management.
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and implement the lottery subsidiary’s I.T. strategic vision and plan, including the identification of the program objectives, metrics, and reporting strategies.
- Develop and implement technology programs and projects that address identified risks and business requirements to meet strategic objectives within required. timelines.
- Oversee the planning, implementation and management of all I.T. functions, including information technology infrastructure, business systems implementation and sustainment.
- Develop I.T. related policies and training and support services.
- Identify process changes to ensure the efficient and measurable use of resource capacity to streamline and eliminate duplicative and non-value-added processes and provide value to internal and external users.
- Ensure the IT Branch provides secure, stable and responsive systems, tools and infrastructure to support iGaming Ontario’s business requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with the AGCO, private sector gaming operators and other partners.
- Build and manage a high-performing team that is centred on the principles of innovation, trust, accountability, service excellence and a digital-first mindset.
How do I qualify?
The ideal candidate will have:
- University degree in one of the following fields (computer science, engineering, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
- Five to ten years of experience in IT leadership with at least five years in a senior management role.
- More than 15 years of experience with information technology spanning applications and integration, information management and analytics, technology infrastructure, information security and I.T. service and incident management.
- Knowledge of tools and techniques for effective use of a broad range of factors, assumptions, frameworks, and perspectives as it related to I.T.; ability to analyze complex issues and identify alternative solutions; arrive at sound conclusions and provide recommendations and business cases for change.
- Strong understanding of Ontario’s igaming mandate, and government operational policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated expertise in employee coaching, leadership, and development.
- High level of organizational skills, project management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and manage resources effectively.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals, including technical and non-technical experts, consultants, and external vendors.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
