Director, Mississauga Operations

Role Purpose: Responsible for the Operations of Maple Lodge Farms’ Mississauga facility, ensuring production, safety standards, BRC and HACCP programs are maintained.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:
Ensures correlation between Mississauga and Brampton Plants and seeks solutions for improvements in efficiency, safety, or HACCP matters.

Oversees the production process during critical situations (i.e. major breakdowns, power outages, etc.).

Delivers any information with regards to new business strategies and Customer demands to area managers, and collaborates with them for the best solution to achieve the Company’s expectations.

Initiates and manages any major Plant redesign and equipment purchased in conjunction with the area Manager, and the Engineering department, and outside contractors and vendors.

Mentors and supports plant managers on different initiatives with respect to safety issues, quality concerns, people issues, cost savings initiatives, budget reductions, or improvements on process flow.

People Management: provides overall management of a team or business area and includes management of individuals indirectly through subordinate supervisors or managers; establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates Evaluate their performance by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance; responsible for all aspects of Human Resources functions for team including hiring, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary matters; and develop team capabilities through continue on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching.

Budgeting: adhere/comply with company policies and procedures; recommend, develop and implement enhancements and improvements to departmental policies and procedures; and ensure that all employees under position leadership, follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum ten years of Production Management experience in the food industry required, preferably in protein processing, and a unionized environment;

Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;

Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;

Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;

Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;

Knowledge of process improvement tools.

General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office)

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Post-Secondary Diploma in a related field required.
