Job Description

The Director of Global Logistics will be responsible for developing and implementing the SSENSE international logistics strategy while adopting a lean and data driven approach aimed at optimizing the customer experience and maximizing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate demonstrates great leadership and has a proven track record for developing innovative global logistics solutions to service evolving customer needs in e-commerce.

Responsibilities

Shape the vision for future SSENSE global logistics that delivers a truly world-class customer experience

Develop and execute a logistics strategy to operationalize that vision

Lead the expansion of the supply chain by creating and executing on a global supply chain network strategy including implementing and operationalizing international warehousing and fulfillment and cross-border inventory replenishment and movements

Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to deliver a truly world-class customer experience and determine the most cost-effective and efficient means to deliver that vision

Have full budget accountability over all transportation spend and performance SLAs

Develop new inbound and outbound customer offerings to support evolving needs such as same day, next day delivery, international returns consolidation, international duty and tax recovery on returns, pick-up locations etc.

Lead a team of skilled Logistics and Supply Chain Program Managers, Analysts and Coordinators and inspire them to new levels of performance

Monitor supplier and carrier performances to maximize supply chain efficiency and sustainability

Lead new carrier selection and review process

Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit and delivery

Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement in all areas and instill the principles of this culture within logistics and throughout the impacted departments

Identify new or improved technology solutions such as automated systems and EDI

Work with the product team to plan and implement improvements to internal and external logistics systems and customer-facing improvements

Work with the product team to develop, manage, and maintain supply chain-based performance measurement systems

Create policies and procedures for logistics activities

Improve efficiency and minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities

Qualifications

MBA and Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics or a related field

A minimum of 5 years experience in a high volume, high value, fast moving items environment, preferably in an e-commerce environment

Demonstrated experience in implementing new 3PL arrangements and managing third-party relations, cost and performance

A minimum of 5 years team management experience

Retail and/or luxury experience an asset

Thorough understanding of international shipping and customs documentation for import and export

Thorough understanding of 3PL warehousing and fulfillment operations and commercial relationships

Advanced knowledge of logistics related software and technology systems such as WMS, Shipping Systems, OMS,

Track record of executing high-value, highly strategic international operations and logistics projects and building new solutions from the bottom-up

Strong data analytics skills with ability to lead and drive complex analysis and provide specific guidance to analysts

Superior verbal, presentation and written communication skills
