The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) has grown and continues to be one of the largest and busiest community service delivery agencies in Prince George. Our clientele of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples have supported the Centre’s program offerings for the last 50 years. The PGNFC provides culturally appropriate programming to meet the community’s unique and diverse needs. We offer a wide variety of services, which includes education, employment, health, early childhood, and social programs.

Director of Health

You are a proven leader with a passion for wholistic and culturally based services that support urban Aboriginal communities. You are a proven leader that thrives in a multi-faceted role and has excellent organizational skills.

In this Senior Leadership role, you will oversee and support the health services programs and community development. As a proven leader, you will supervise the teams that support our wholistic and culturally based health programs, through a trauma informed delivery model. Using your innovation, and strategic skills, identify ongoing funding opportunities and develop new initiatives as identified by organizational and community need. Key to this role will be developing and maintaining strong relationships with local, regional, provincial and national partners. The preferred qualifications for this role include:

Master’s Degree in in Political Science, History, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Health Sciences or other comparable area of study

A minimum of five (5) years’ experience working at a management level in a community-based in health and wellness relevant programming

Combination of relevant experience, education, and training will be considered

Demonstrated supervisory experience, at a management level

Extensive knowledge of health-related programs and services provision in urban Aboriginal communities

Proven experience in writing reports on activities, strategic work plans, goals and objectives

A thorough appreciation, awareness, working experience and sensitivity of Aboriginal history and culture, as well as a thorough understanding of the complexities of working with diverse populations

Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, provincial and national partners of the PGNFC

Professional communication proficiencies including presentation skills, writing ability, computer proficiency and authentic interpersonal skills

Demonstrated teamwork, leadership skills and visionary ability to inspire and empower others

In-depth knowledge of the social service sector, community-based programs and services, funding sources, community and board relations

Complete Criminal Record Clearances and possess a valid Driver’s License

Be willing to work flexible hours including on call, evenings & weekends
