Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for the management, administration and delivery of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Human Resources Services and Staff Training Programs. The Director’s mandate is to provide management oversight of TH’s employee and labour relations. The Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources (HR) department. The Director will prioritize the inclusion of TH’s mission, vision and strategic plan throughout the departments work. Duties for the HR Director will include: supervising HR personnel, managing employee grievances, mediations and conflict resolution; enhancing job satisfaction and retention; supporting employee development; mitigating risk; maintaining employee records; managing budgets and designing accountability mechanisms.

Essential Qualifications:
A degree or diploma in human resources management, or a related field such as business management, commerce, industrial/labour relations, or labour studies. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
Three (3) years’ minimum experience supervising staff.
Strong knowledge of federal employment standards and legislation.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications and computers.
Experience developing strategic plans, work plans and implementing change.
Experience with Financial Management and Budgets.
General knowledge of TH Self-Government Agreements.
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in government structure, culture, traditions, history, demographics, family structures and socio-economic dynamics, challenges and aspirations.
Assets:
Experience working within a First Nations Government.
Ability to apply restorative practices with regards to employee conflict.
Experience with grant writing, funding and proposal building.
Conditions of Employment:
Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Class 5 driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract, and willingness to get a Class 4 license.
