The Director of Operations will be responsible for leading a multi-business operations site supporting ON Pharmacies across the Loblaw and Shoppers businesses. The Director will guide a management team responsible for an evolving lean pharmacy production environment that engages colleagues, exceeds client expectations and surpasses financial and operational targets. The Director will lead efforts to automate, integrate and standardize the processes and protocols required to provide technically advanced medication packaging and clinical services to facilities and clients, in full compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice standards.
Objective : The Director is accountable for multiple P&Ls, managing multiple operations teams with independent staff, budgets, and equipment to ensure that targeted business outcomes are achieved. The Director will drive customer accountability and will be responsible for ensuring all customer expectations are consistently met/exceeded. Leadership and development of multiple management teams is a key component of this role.
What you will do:
Overall accountability for the day-to-day management of the site’s multiple operations and teams
Ensure compliance to College regulations and policies as instructed by the pharmacy’s Designated Manager
As Senio r P erson C harge of the Health Canada licensed facility , accountable for oversight of the facility and supporting the QPIC in ensuring procedural compliance to SOPs and practices set out to fulfill requirements of Health Canada Office of Controlled Substances
Ensures customer satisfaction levels are achieved for new and current accounts, consistent with contracted service levels, timelines, and budgets as well as legal/regulatory standards
Recommend, implement, and drive continuous improvement activities through the implementation of change management processes, and best practices
P&L management for each of the site’s operations and participation in annual budget development
Collaborate with internal groups to support stakeholder relationships
Working with colleagues to ensure that all regulatory obligations ( e.g. Provincial Pharmacy College / Board & Health Canada) are met
Improve customer experience through process and people development; show measurable results
Responsible for accuracy of final products being provided, specifically work with staff to limit medication errors by building a patient safety culture
Ensure adequate inventory control systems are maintained to guard against “out of stocks” or “overstocks”
Ensure monitoring and proper handling of expired inventory is taking place to minimize financial loss
Ensure all incidents and near misses and documented and managed in the appropriate time frame
Ensure patient/resident confidentiality and privacy is protected
Leadership:
Provide strong effective leadership
Fosters a ground-up culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement that delivers measurable qualitative and quantitative results
Improves labour utilization within existing departments and processes. Ensures schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies. Manages to labour targets.
Lead and motivate the team to achieve aggressive operational/performance goals for the site and develop organizational talent
Positively communicates business processes, vision and strategy to all employees and is seen and acts as a leader locally
Maintains a collaborative and productive working relationship with other departments, members of the management team and shared services teams
Provides guidance to team members on building strong relationships within the site and with external clients and stakeholders by reinforcing and expecting use of CORE values and Blue Culture
What you will need:
5-10 years Managerial experience within a healthcare or manufacturing environment
Experience with managing vendors
Strong leadership skills, demonstrated ability to manage others while adhering to company values and policies
Quality process certification (TQM, ISO9000, Six Sigma) or willingness to obtain is considered an asset
Project management experience is considered an asset
Ability to lead and influence cross functional teams
Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity; ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment
Strong relationship building capabilities and capacity to work in a fast paced, multiple project environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
