Director of Operations, Eastern Region

Cardinal Health Canada, with over 1300 employees nationwide, is an essential link in the Canadian healthcare supply chain, providing over 70,000 products to healthcare facilities and medical professionals across the country.

We are currently seeking a Director of Operations, Eastern Region to add to our team in Dorval, QC. This role is responsible for motivating, developing and leading a team of six direct reports and approximately 200 non-exempt indirect reports across 3 locations. This role is key in leading and developing a team of Operational leaders and driving a culture of inclusion, respect and continuous improvement. The Director role is essential to maintaining clear and frequent communications with all levels within the organization as well as with customers.

The Director ensures all Cardinal Health operational, financial and safety procedures are followed, enabling relevant key financial performance indicators are met and operational goals are achieved. This position is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and operational performance of our 2nd largest distribution center in Canada situated in Dorval, QC as well as overseeing our 2 Atlantic Canada sites in Moncton, NB and Mount Pearl, NL.

Your Contributions to the Organization will be to:
Provide leadership, coach and develop management team.

Promote a productive work environment with high employee engagement levels.

Create and execute strategies to control operating costs.

Develop and implement key performance indicators, policies and procedures to achieve organizational goals.

Accountable for supporting the assigned “Stockless”/JIT agreements ensuring inventory and replenishment of agreed medical and surgical supplies on the program are in accordance to the specified Customer delivery requirements.

In conjunction with the regional Healthcare Solutions (HCS) Directors, build customer relationships, interpret customer needs and assess their business requirements.

Assist in the development of functional strategies and continuous improvement / Lean Six Sigma initiatives.

Interact with internal and external leaders, including senior leadership team.

Ensure collaboration with other functional areas, establishing effective working relationships with business partners and persuade others into agreement with sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships across the organization.

Partner with Environmental Health and Safety team to ensure high standards are in place for a safe working environment for all employees.

Ensure all regulatory procedures are properly administered and within appropriate tolerances.

Evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing regional objectives.

Participate in and lead cross-functional special projects.

This Job might be for you if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field

7 -10 years of senior level experience in a distribution environment

10 years of management experience

Strong financial acumen, analytical, organizational and communication skills

Knowledge of Health and Safety laws and best practices

Experience working with Lean Six Sigma methodologies

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced ever changing environment; works well under pressure and results oriented
