The County of Grande Prairie No. 1 is seeking a self-motivated, forward thinking professional to join our senior management team. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position provides leadership and guidance to the Public Works division.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the County’s Senior Management Team, the Director of Public Works plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates overall operations of the Public Works Department of the County. The Department consists of Road Maintenance and construction, utilities, waste management and fleet maintenance. The position also manages the Public Works administrative functions.

The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively in a high functioning team. You will also possess:

A degree in engineering, business administration, or other related discipline, or equivalent experience

Minimum 10 years municipal related public works experience, which includes a minimum of five years’ experience at a supervisory level and preferably includes some rural municipal experience.

Proven experience in research, policy development, and written and oral presentations.

Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite 2016 and Windows

Experience in contract management and budgetary responsibilities

This position is Permanent- Full-time, Monday to Friday for 35 hours per week.
