ABOUT OUR CLIENT
Our client is a non-profit organization which has been mandated by the Government of Quebec to increase the number of clinical trials carried out by companies in Quebec, facilitate collaboration between the various players in the life sciences sector and accelerate the development of innovative treatments.
Their mission is to optimize the clinical research environment in Quebec in order to maximize private investments and accelerate the development of innovative care for patients; and their vision is to create an environment that allows all patients who wish to to easily access clinical trials in Quebec.
Our client is supported by a large network of partners, including health establishments, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations and patient organizations (the “Network”).
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Patient Axis is responsible for ensuring that the activities of the strategic plan meet the main needs of the public, patients, patient organizations and clinicians. in the context of facilitating the recruitment and referral of patients in clinical trials conducted in Quebec.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Constitute and chair the Patient Committee; and ensure that committee members identify the main issues for patients in clinical research and that simple and effective solutions are identified and then implemented for the benefit of patients and clinicians;
- Responsible for preparing and implementing an action plan aimed at facilitating the recruitment and referral of patients to clinical trials in Quebec. At a minimum, the action plan must include certain activities from the Quebec strategic plan, namely:
- Collaborate in the development of a communication strategy on clinical research and develop tools to inform, educate, mobilize and engage patients and clinicians in Quebec;
- Ensure that the automated register of clinical trials offers all the information required to facilitate the recruitment and referral of patients in Quebec;
- Make sure to provide a direct support service to patients, to help them find trials that match their medical condition;
- Collaborate on the work site, with the participating health establishments, which aims to optimize the recruitment and referral of patients within the establishments.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining our contact network with patient organizations and foundations, while making sure to properly map the various services offered to patients in clinical research;
- Responsible for conducting awareness campaigns among the general public and clinicians to increase their commitment to clinical research, and inform them of the common tools that are available to them;
- Collaborate with the Business Development Director to attract trials targeting very specific patient populations;
- Responsible for ensuring links with provincial and Canadian organizations in order to optimize collaborations and avoid duplication of activities; and
- Performs all other tasks related to this position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in science (or experience deemed equivalent);
- At least 5 years of experience in a management team of a patient organization or foundation (or experience deemed relevant);
- Excellent knowledge of clinical trials.

- Ability to work independently and be ready to travel across Quebec for awareness campaigns
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
